The Beginning: Graphene batteries - by Atharva Lokhande

Hello everyone,

We are getting kickstarted to a new edition of the science series. We shall be discussing the latest inventions and new promising technologies in all the sector. Speaking of promising technologies, what can be a better topic than the graphene-enhanced batteries?

Batteries are everywhere; from smartphones, laptops, home appliances, Electric cars and now in electric planes. Battery technology can be assisted with the solar farms to store excess power and provide it in the night time.

Graphene is derived from carbon which is an extremely flexible element that can take many forms. Ideally, graphene is one atom thick layer of pure arranged carbon in a hexagonal pattern. In addition to being very thin, it is also one of the most resistant, flexible and an excellent electrical conductor.

Wouldn't it be better if your battery can store more power with lesser charging time? So flexible and light such that can be stitched into the clothing? And manufactured from as cheap material as carbon? Graphene battery promises a heck lot of plication in the future. I am quite unsure about the last one, but who knows?
